Effective treatment for rosacea, facial thread veins, broken red veins, spider naevi, and port wine stains.

How does the treatment work?

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) works by emitting filtered light which is readily absorbed by blood vessels heating them to point where they are destroyed. With Rosacea, we can shut down some of the larger, more noticeable vessels but for the majority, we aim to stimulate collagen within the skin to help strengthen the capillary walls resulting in Rosacea flare-ups being less often and less severe. Treatment is suitable for most people, with best results are obtained for those with fair skin.

What does the treatment feel like?

Treatment can be mildly uncomfortable, like the sensation of a hot pin prick, and a warm, tingling sensation, not unlike sunburn, can be experienced afterwards. We provide plenty of cooling throughout and after the treatment to reduce any discomfort.

What should I expect after treatment?

Most people experience little more than slight reddening and possibly mild swelling, which usually disappears within a couple of hours to a couple of days. Very rarely a small blister may form or temporary lightening or darkening of the skin can occur.

How many treatments will I need?

Treatment is relatively quick and can be just 20 minutes for cheeks or up to 45 minutes for a full face. Typically, a minimum course of five treatments are needed for optimum results. Clients usually see improvements in flare-ups of Rosacea within the first 3 treatments, but maintenance treatments will be necessary to keep on top of the condition. Repeat sessions will be at four to six week intervals.
